If you're looking for stuff to do in San Francisco, you've come to the right place. This vibrant city is full of interesting cultural and historical places. Kids of all ages can enjoy the trains, the ocean, the beautiful natural scenery, and the bustling city life of San Francisco. The great part about this city is that you don't have to spend a fortune to have a great time. There are tons of places to go that don't cost anything at all, including the following:
Explore Golden Gate Park
For most residents of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Park is just the best park in the city. It's a huge place with trails for walking and running ' or pushing the stroller when mommy needs some exercise. There are large green areas for teaching the kids to play Frisbee or throw a ball when they're young, and there are great spots to have a picnic. The great part about Golden Gate Park is that you just never really get tired of it. In every season, it's got something a little different to offer. This means that you can go back again and again.
Take a book, a blanket, a stroller, a picnic lunch, a pet, or anything else you can think of that would be fun in the outdoors. Teach your kids to explore nature as they poke around finding the bold small creatures in the area, and just enjoy those delicious golden days of a San Francisco spring.
Enjoy the Bayside Walk
If you're more in the mood for walking than for lounging around or playing Frisbee, pack up the kids in the baby backpack or stroller, and head to the Bayside Walk. This Walk starts you out at Fort Mason near the performing arts center and lands you at Crissy Field. The scenery along the way is perfectly lovely, and there are lots of interesting places to stop and window shop.
This might not be the absolute best walk for kids who like to run around and play on their own. If your infant or youngster can't get enough of seeing the world from under the stroller umbrella, though, this is definitely a great walk to try on a day when you just need to get out of the house. You could walk in the afternoon and pack a small lunch or snack to enjoy on some bench along the sidewalk, or you could stop into one of the many cafes or coffee shops along the way to enjoy a quiet lunch with the kids.
Browse through the Alemany Flea Market
Until you take your kids to a flea market, you'll never know how much fun it can be. The Alemany Flea Market is home to hundreds of vendors selling cheap secondhand paraphernalia and collectible items. It's paradise for a little kid who likes to discover interesting, strange, and weird things. Plus, you can just browse around without spending any money, if you want.
One way to make this fun is to turn it into a scavenger hunt. If your kids are old enough to browse through booths on their own while staying within sight, this can be even more fun. Before you go, collaborate to write out a list of different things you might find at a flea market. Then, send everyone with a cheap disposable camera, and have them snap shots of the things they find there. The kids will have so much fun hunting for strange and obscure items and taking silly photos that you may while away an entire day at the flea market!
